Jolie Voight (born on June 4 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American
actress, director and producer best known for her sex appeal as and her
charitable work. Her part in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was a role she was
awarded in the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent
most of her early life in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11
years old. She was a student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute
for two years and then enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Later, she
studied drama at New York University. Apart from acting in theatre productions,
she played the role of a model as well as appearing in music videos.Jolie's
first big movie role was in Hackers (1995), during the filming of which she
became engaged to her first husband British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married
1996; divorced 1999). It was not a huge success, and neither were other films.
Jolie was the actress who played the role of governor's wife of Alabama's
segregationist governor was the subject of much interest in 1997. In the
following year, she received an award called the Golden Globe Award. In the HBO
film Gia, she was a supermodel who had a drug addiction. She received numerous
honors as well as an award of the Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild
Award. In 1999, she was a part of the comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and
Billy Bob Thornton, and the following year she married Thornton (divorced
2003).After her Oscar-winning turn in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie appeared in a
string of action-oriented films. She played the role of the girlfriend of
carjackers (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) and later adopted a
British accent, and mastered street fighting and kickboxing for the roles of
the title in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The
Cradle of Life (2003). She played the mother of Alexander in Oliver Stone's
Alexander (2004) and starred alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky
Captain and The World of Tomorrow (a sci-fi thriller set 1930s New York City).
Both films were box-office failures however, Jolie scored a hit in Mr.
& Mrs. Smith (2005) the film in which she portrayed an assassin
pretending to be a typical housewife. While working on the film she was
introduced to Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
